TROJAN ARENA: Ground Breaking Celebration!
Set to break ground in October 2021, the Fountain Fort-Carson School District 8 will move and expand its indoor athletic capacity from the DFAC to what will be a new Trojan Arena. The Trojan Arena will be located off Jimmy Camp Road in Fountain, behind and east of the District's Administration Office and the FFCHS baseball fields.
Trojan men's and women's basketball teams are a force to reckon with in 5A state basketball, earning playoff berths in many years recently between them. FFCHS has competed at 5A-level high school athletics for quite some time now, but the main gym at the school is not officially big enough to host CHSAA-sanctioned tournaments or playoff basketball games. The new arena will not only expand seating capacity but will also bring with it the expansion of student and staff programs. The Trojan Sports News broadcasting will have a prominent place, as well as the opportunity for point-of-sale on Trojan merchandise from the FFCHS DECA students. The facility will also allow for more staff wellness opportunities.
What readers and attendees will see is a welcoming outdoor plaza where students and guests can sit and relax or even study outdoors. The entire facility, inside and out, will be branded in Trojan red and blue. Inside, the concourse will welcome all visitors with multiple concession windows and prime real estate for the Trojan Store (both run by the FFCHS DECA students). Students will also be considered when it comes time to allocate space for the Trojan Sports Network, to broadcast from inside the arena.
The Trojan Arena is scheduled to open in October 2023.
